I'm new to Tiger Woods 2008.
Not sure how the players work? Is there a way to create a player at an expert Trueswing level and get pro distances from that player? I notice if I use one of the pro players, they are all at Novice level but their hitting distances are great. If I create a custom player, I can create an expert level player but the distances are alot shorter than the novice pro players.
Ideally I'd like to use one of the pro players but at expert level. Is this possible? |

The players hitting distances is based on Attributes.
A newly created player as Amateur has little or no attributes , attributes = power. If you create a new player you can tick the box (Pro ) this will give the player 75% Attributes and $100,000, this player is good enough for online play and will hit just as far as a player with 100% Attributes / online. The created player (Pro ) I think cannot enter in the in game Tournies against Hacks, but can enter straight into the Fedex Cup ,in game Tournaments.
If you want a player with 100% Attributes and £3,000,000 you can download a custom player here , this is Severiano Ballesteros I did.
http://www.coursedownloads.com/extras/details.asp?id=796 There is Steve McQueen and Ian Baker Finch as well that I did both have 100 % Attributes and a few Million £`s
You can also use the Bridge Stone B-330-s ball None of the in game EA Made Pro players has 100 % Attributes not even Tiger |

This will help aswell:
Most people will have fast or very fast swing on win7 and win8. When you have fast or very fast swing you will lose distance. On win7 or Win8, try extra stiff shafts and you will have normal swing, and you will win distance. As Argon said, also try Bridgestone B330-S golfball and you will win some distance. Start TW08, go to Gameface, and try settings below:
Nike CPR Extra Stiff Flex Shafts, King Cobra FP Irons, EA 1-Under Edition Wedges, King Cobra Speed LD F Driver, King Cobra Speed Pro Fairway Woods. The golfball i used: Bridgestone B330-S

Thanks guys, that helps a great deal! I've got so much exploring to do.
I last played TW2003. Tried to get it to run on Windows 7 but wouldn't even open. If anyone has any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated! Would like to install it as well if possible. Thanks again! |

I didn t try TW03 on win7, so not sure it will work. Did you try to run TW03 in compatibility mode ( xp mode ) on win 7. Right click TW03 shortcut....choose properties..compatibility |

Yes, did try a number of compatibility changes, nothing worked.
Didn't say it in my other posts but great to see this site going strong. I was last here back in the TW2003 days. I've been loading up a ton of old games recently and then heading off to sites to find anything new for the games. So many sites have shut down over the years. It was great to click my old link for CourseDownloads and bang, "Holly Cow!" it's still going strong! Thanks to all those involved in keeping this great site going! |

You can still play TW 2008 on line via Tunggle , Hamachi or gameranger, for ease of use I would suggest www.gameranger.com , free bronze membership is all that is required, the owner of gameranger is from Australia, the site covers games that have lost their main servers and host over 600 games now |

Just installed TW2003 in Windows 7 and it played first time without even doing any compatibility. Played the Prince Course at Princeville - what a great course - and amazing to see how good a 12 year old game still looks. Maybe try a fresh install. |

Ok, that''s odd. Did you install the patch for 2003? I''ll give it another try.
Edit: Just got 2003 working. Found I can run it with or without patch. Not sure if I can really say what I needed to do here to sort out the problem but anyhow, it works. :) |

Just tried a few holes, totally agree, looks fantastic! I'll definately play it regularly, it was a good version with a custom season mode. |

One last thig regarding TW2003, it did not allow metric distances. There was a reg fix for this, I still have it, applied it and it works on Windows 7. I could not see it on the site. I can email it to upload on the site if anyone wants it just let me know. There was also a template to add your own face to the game. I have that too and can pass it on although it requires a little work in a Photo program to add your face to the template. I copied the original instructions so have that as a text file.
Finally, regarding TW2008 and a lack of a season mode. There is another program made by a player from another golf sim using Excel which allows comprehensive season play to be set up. You play your rounds in your golf sim but use the Excel program to calculate all the season results. Players who have used the program have praised it very highly. It does require some learning time but once you get to grips with it, it is very, very good. I haven''t used it in the past but will use it with TW2008 as I see the custom season mode was removed. I''ve always wanted to try this program and with TW2008 is the perfect reason to do so. EA clearly did some seriously stupid things as the TW series progressed!
I''m quite sure the Excel program can be openly shared as long as it is not sold. I will check the authors EULA and if all is ok and this site would like it, I can also email it to upload here, let me know. Quick screenshot shot below to give you a little idea what it is like: |

Hi guys, sorry, didn't see you can upload files. I'll get up the Excel program along with 2003 files as soon as possible. TW2003 btw is still an excellent game, spent alot of time on it since getting it installed. |

Just an update, I'm getting someone who knows the Excel program very well to write a download description better than I could. Once I get this from him I'll upload the files. |

That is an old version. There are a couple of newer ones with differing variants. It stopped being updated a few years ago but you can customize it to a very large degree to modernise player rosters etc. Still waiting on a description, if I don't get anything in the next day or two I'll upload it it anyway with a minimal description.
I'm no expert on it, haven't used it but know of 3 or 4 guys over the years who have tried very hard to sway me to it. It was an alternative to the Links 2003 ingame career mode which some people didn't like. I liked it so never required the excel spreadsheet. Now with TW2008 and no custom career options, it's the perfect tool. I read there was a workaround here to create a custom career/season but I only have TW2003 and 08 so don't have the other game versions which it looks like you need to do anything.
Give me a couple of days and I'll get it up. |
